Pre-Season Boot Lust

Summer bargain time is here. Retailers are hoping to drive sales while clearing out summer merchandise to make room for fall and back to school. One of the best and consistently crazy sales in town is Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale (which ends tonight at midnight by the way). I’ve known girls to take off work early to get the best selection at it’s onset, and it’s no wonder. Not only are there summer offerings marked down, but so is the new fall merchandise. I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: when it comes to shopping, assess your closet, make your get list, and shop pre and post season whenever possible. So, taking my own advice, I stopped by (in store and online) to analyze the sale. On my list, among other things, new black boots… and these from Frye just might be the ticket. Fryes are benchcrafted and have been since 1863, with 190 different steps going into the making of each pair. They are known for comfort and last forever, and while many of their styles are a bit too western for me, these Shirley boots are nice balance of tough and chic. Still a classic riding boot but with a slightly higher shaft than my last pair, these have a roomier, no-zip pull on construction. They make me with for fall (or really, any temperature lower than 100 degrees…oh the Texas heat). When summer finally gives way to autumn temperature, I predict throwing these on with dresses, skinny denim and shorts. Since they’re on sale, my prediction just might become a reality.
