Day 81: Modern Spectators
July 1, 2009 § 2 Comments
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, why don’t every pair of heels on the planet have Nike Air comfort in them? Talk about a genius partnership, that’s just what these Cole Haan heels, and several of their heels for that matter, have. There’s no reason us heel-loving girls can’t have a little more comfort to go with our fashion, if only all my heels had it. In any case, this pair possesses other good qualities: the peep toe, mary jane strap, sling back, stacked heel half-wrapped with leather, and the tan leather perforated spectator trim wrapping around the pink suede. Yes, it’s a lot of features in one shoe but I’m a sucker for details, the muted color combination and the subtle spectator style combined with the girlie peep toe mary jane are lovely. I also don’t have any pairs with a heel wrapped half in leather, making them that much more interesting. Should these spectators stay on the sidelines? Are they overdone or done just right?

place or source of origin: The provenance of the shoes has yet to be determined.
Date of Purchase: Spring 2009
Circumstances: I am a big believer in finding quality fashion for less than retail. I have one particularly fashionable friend, who not only believes this but knows the shipping and markdown schedule at local discount retailers. It has paid off in spades for, as she now owns a few Missoni’s and other designer threads she scooped up at ridiculous prices. The employees even call her when they get a new shipment in. Yes, she’s dedicated, and a girl after my own heart. After hearing about all her amazing finds, I told her we must go together. To my surprise, the destination for her shopping was none other than TJ Maxx who, at select locations, now has a Runway Designer section. She was hunting a particular pair of Cole Haan shoes and knew they had just been marked down further. I pointed out an adorable pair, today’s pair, which were the exact pair she had been hunting. But, disaster struck…they no longer had her size. We scoured the racks to no avail; the only pairs left were in my size. Oh the dangers in discount hunting! You never know when things will disappear. We decided to head into the clothing hoping for better luck. We dove in and swam through racks of designer jeans, dresses and tops and tried on an armload each. She got an adorable LBD, I, a new pair of Hudsons at half off, and we both agreed I must take the Cole Haans home. One of us had to rock them!
Compliment Meter: 4. Positive responses today, and enthusiastic ones at that. Overall quite a popular. Shoe confidence level: High.
Comfort: Comfortable, especially for a first wear. The Nike Air really does make a difference in cushioning the front of the foot. No rubbing, no pain. Lovely. Overall, an 8.5 out of 10.
Worn with: Cream tank with ruffle trim, this plaid madras blazer with brown distressed belt over top, wide Seven Dojo jeans. Yes I said plaid blazer.
Thoughts: “You see, in this country, my husband is a very powerful man. He’s a shoe salesman.” ~Peggy Bundy (Married with Children)
Do these babies stay in the rotation or get dumped into the Shoe Graveyard?
