Day 62: Golden Arches

What’s the summer color equivalent of my love affair with grey? Metallic. The beauty of grey lies in it’s neutrality and versatility. The same is true of metallics. You can wear gold, silver and bronze, and any variation of those three, with every color imaginable. Neutral without being boring, they add a little sizzle to summer prints and dresses. I particularly enjoy the shade of pale champagne gold on these wedges from BP at Nordstrom and they became a staple last Summer. Part of the wedge is wrapped in the same gold leather and the cork wedge has flecks of gold in it, making them a little less predictable. Maybe because I wore them so often last year they’ve lost their luster, but I feel they are just a bit boring. Do they still have the midas touch or are they just fools gold?
[prov–uh-nuhns, -nahns] –noun
place or source of origin: The provenance of the shoes has yet to be determined.
Date of Purchase: Spring 2008
Circumstances: Another pair of Summer shoes I’m digging out of the closet, purchased last Spring from Nordies. The shoe department at Nordstrom is notoriously good and one particular location here in big D is extensive. I was looking for new Summer wedges and was not wanting another pair of espadrilles. Metallics were catching my eye everywhere, but I didn’t want a shade of gold that rivaled solid gold dancers. The pale gold and covered heel of these sandals was just different enough and filled the casual-gold-sandal shaped hole in my wardrobe.
Compliment Meter: 1. Positive response just nothing too noteworthy. I think they might just be a bit boring. Shoe confidence level: Medium.
Comfort: This is the first time since last Summer I have worn this pair and they really rubbed my feet, surprisingly. I don’t remember this from last year, so I’m a bit disappointed. Overall, a 6.5 out of 10.
Worn with: Sleeveless silk coral/white floral tunic top with jeweled neckline, wide leg Paige jeans. So easy and comfortable

Do these babies stay in the rotation or get dumped into the Shoe Graveyard?
