Day 47: Foliage Fete
May 3, 2009 § Leave a comment
These black slingback sandals have been around the block in my runway of life. They’ve been an easy choice in my closet when a black heel was needed, but a pump was just too much coverage. I like the shape of the heel and the slight platform in the front as well as the leaf and petal-shaped leather die-cuts that make up the body of the shoe, wrapping each foot in subtle foliage. By Gianni Binni, they’re simple but interesting, and well-worn. Should they continue to flourish in the shoe garden, or get pruned and tossed into the graveyard? Grab your shears and decide.
[prov–uh-nuhns, -nahns] –noun
|place or source of origin: The provenance of the shoes has yet to be determined.|
Date of Purchase: Spring 2007
Circumstances: A lunchtime shopping trip, a going out of business store, racks of shoes on clearance. Need I say more? Well, I was intriuged by the leaf-shaped leather and I’ve always been a fan of slingbacks. Same shopping excursion as Day 21 ‘s shoes, I loaded up on great finds and greatly reduced prices. These were very likely less that $20.
Compliment Meter: 2. A solid response, given that I was chained to my desk for most of the day. Shoe confidence level: Medium.
Comfort: Nicely broken in and slightly worn, especially on the front toe. They are a bit stretched out and could use some TLC. Overall, an 8 out of 10.
Worn with: Bright sapphire blue short-sleeved knit top from Anthropologie with gathered neck and sleeves, wide leg jeans by Seven, layered long and short gold necklaces. Relaxed feminine.
Thoughts: “I go for someone who is a little brooding and somebody you can have a good conversation with, a good fight with, who will always keep you guessing and make you laugh. And he has to have .” ~
Do these babies stay in the rotation or get dumped into the Shoe Graveyard?
