Happy Feet

Happy Feet

I’ve made it over a month now in our little pair diem challenge, and there’s much more to come! Straight out of Winter shoes into Springs bright colors.Today’s pair are a soft suede in happy canary yellow with a front knot tie, from the Gap. They have an elastic back, all the rage at the time, which is a blessing and a curse…they stay more securely on the foot, but after a few hours, the elastic can hurt. I love the color, it’s hard to be in a bad mood wearing yellow shoes! (umm, there may be more to come…) Flats in bright colors are particularly cute, but, maybe the cut isn’t just right? Maybe they’ve just seen better days.

prov⋅e⋅nance

[provuh-nuhns, -nahns] –noun

place or source of origin: The provenance of the shoes has yet to be determined.

Date of Purchase: Early Spring 2008

Circumstances: I remember spotting these in the Gap in early spring. They had just launched their Spring campaign, thick with bright yellows, greens and punchy reds. These colors adorned flats, belts, scarves and bags. The bright colors of Spring are such a welcome sight after the subdued colors of Fall and Winter have run their course. I loved the knotted front and the only decision was which color to get. I debated the grass green and decided on the yellow….and picked up an ombré yellow summer scarf at the same time. My shopping buddy in crime Lori, after spotting mine at work, went out and picked up the green. Kindred spirits we are!

Compliment Meter: 3. Positive responses, mostly to the color. Is that enough to keep them around? Shoe confidence level: Medium.

Comfort: Quite comfortable, although there is a lack of support. The elastic back gets painful by hour 7. Overall, an 7 out of 10.

Worn with: Teal gathered-neck long sleeved sweater from Banana, faded slightly slouchy jeans, striped scarf, lots of enamel bracelets.

Thoughts: “Hair and shoes say it all. Everything in between is forgivable as long as you keep it simple. Trying to talk with your clothes is passive-aggressive.” ~Rick Owens

Do these babies stay in the rotation or get dumped into the Shoe Graveyard?
