Day 1: The Red Peep Toe
February 25, 2009 § 6 Comments
Here it is, my first post of many posts, the first pair in the closet up for review. Everyone needs peep toe shoes in their wardrobe, ok well everyone within reason… I have SEVERAL pairs so you’ll be seeing quite a few. The heel is isn’t crazily high which helps, and I do like the very girlie aspect of the dainty heel, peep toe, and mary jane strap. I’m a girlie girl at heart to be sure. I can honestly say I haven’t worn these shoes in at least 6-8 months. Why? Not convinced of the red color, I think (a nice orange-red poppy color). Red can be a key pop of color…or it can just be silly.
I’ve decided to do a rundown of each pair as I wear them…a little back story, if you will… which will help decide their fate…

[prov–uh-nuhns, -nahns] –noun
place or source of origin: The provenance of the ancient manuscript has never been determined. |
Date of Purchase: Spring of 2007, approximately
Circumstances: Well, probably just for fun. I remember debating between the red and the same shoe in charcoal metallic. The charcoal would have been more versatile, but the red were more fun. I am a spontaneous buyer, it’s true. So, home they came with me….and didn’t see the light of day for many months. Eventually I did end up wearing them with a great LBD and red statement necklace to the Niemans Stiletto Strut Cocktail party, and felt quite smashing.
Compliment Meter: 3 compliments at work within a half an hour…not too shabby. One, er, ‘comment’ later in the day. One of those that means, ‘wow, you actually wore red shoes to work.’ Something along the lines of, ‘hey, look at your red shoes’…as if I hadn’t seen them when I put them on? haha. Oh well. And yes, that came from a guy.
Comfort: The mid-heel is a plus, probably a 2.5″. Didn’t hurt until around 3pm. Overall, I give them a 6 out of 10.
Thoughts: “Red Shoes should only be worn by little girls and prostitutes.” – Isaac Mizrahi
Um, I clearly disagree! Do you?
Do these babies stay in the rotation or get dumped into the Shoe Graveyard?
my mom always says….”red shoes make you happy”
your mother is a wise, wise woman
Sara – my normal guy co-worker was walking by as I checked out your blog.
Without solicitation he exclaimed “I like those shoes!”
Holly bug squishers, hot heels!
This pair is stuck at 50/50….I need a few more votes to break the tie!
something about the color of red and the placement of the straps leans me toward no.
